March 2003
I just got back from a trip to Tassie with my daughter Kathleen. We had a great time and one of the highlights was giving a presentation out at Austin's Ferry to the Grade 8 boys in the Joyce Auditorium.
Once again Robert and Pat Scanlon were gracious and entertained at a BBQ at their property at Carlton Beach. Bob has build himself a lovely shed out the back...............big enough for a 747 I reckon!

I just got back from a brief visit to Hobart and was pleased to catch up with some of my school mates from St Virgils. First of all a big thank you to Pat and Robert Scanlon for organising a BBQ for me. That was so nice and a highlight of my trip for sure. Murray and Denise Fisher picked up my twin brother John and myself in their van and we headed out to the Scanlons.Julian Mattay was there from Mt Gambier as he was also on a brief visit to Hobart. Bob and Pat Ashby, and Dave Clarke and his wife were also there. Great sausages Bob and thanks for the cooler bag which I used on the way back to Canada for six Cascade and some wine from Pat and Trevor Hannigan's winery in Granton (Derwent Estate Vineyard) not so much to keep them cold as to protect them from damage. And what a night we had! I must say that the BBQ would never have happened but for the generosity of our hosts and also the power of the internet. All the arrangements were done via email.
I also managed to get on the ABC with Johnny X and play a few tunes. Johnny X is also playing my Christmas CD during the festive season . In fact the night before I left I was mucking around with a clock radio trying to set the alarm for the next morning as I had an early flight and I tuned into a station which happened to be the ABC and I got the shock of my life to hear myself singing Felice Navidad. That was quite a coincidence and a thrill.
The Mercury came through on Friday 24th with an article and picture on the work I do here in the schools of Canada promoting Tasmania with my Aussie Fun Show.
